I have yet to read Anne Rice's book that this movie is based on and was expecting a vampire extravaganza ridden with romantic tropes. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised by how it interweaves the theme of grief, parenthood and loneliness…

Very unique film that started the modern vampire story. The acting is amazing and appropriate for the type of film as well as the era it supposed to represent. Beautifully shot and edited. Antonio Banderas is amazing. Tom Cruise gives a…

Terrible acting. Even Twilight was better. If you want a dark vampire film, check out “Let me In” or “Let the Right One In.”

I saw this year's ago in the theater by myself. There was one man in one of the front rows and one woman with her kid a row behind me. What the heck was she thinking? It wasn't long before the kid started crying and they left. This was my…

I used to be guilty of lumping Tom Cruise into the same category of generic, straight, white, movie hunks who can’t actually act as Brad Pitt. I’ll never make that mistake again. May all the doubters that thought Cruise couldn’t do Lestat…

I watched this crap to justify what I am about to say: this is crap; anyone who thinks otherwise is a worldclass bore with too much time on their wasted little hands.

For me - When it comes to the likes of vampire movies - I'd say that they can all easily be slotted into one of these 3 following categories - Good - Mediocre - Awful. And - With that said - I will give you just one guess as to which…

Ha! Tom Cruise (Mr. No-Talent) in a vampire movie. Yep. Believe me - It's all even more stupid than you could ever imagine possible.

It's surprising how many big names made it into this film: Cruise, Pitt, Banderas, to name a few. This is a very well done adaptation. It's a shame the sequal movie is rather dreadful.

This is Tom Cruise's movie. I myself am not a fan of Tom, but his performance as this ruthless character is endearing because of its panache and humour. He's got a murderous thirst, but he does it with a wink and a smirk, always…

Excellent adaptation of the book, outstanding acting, in my opinion, tough material and worth the read and view.

This is a decent vampire movie in large part because of the enduring sophistication of Anne Rice's story (not to mention the set & costume crew, holy cow), & all casting controversy aside, it still plays pretty well in my opinion. Against…

After watching Let the Right One In and The Only Lovers Left Alive as far as vampire films go, meh. Loved the costumes of two male characters. I thought the acting was strained, except for Dunst who was scary, and I felt really bad for…

British director Neil Jordan tried to do a different vampire movie, but the result was not particularly spectacular. It has a gay theme, and a young child actor playing the role of a young vampire. However, collectively as a film it is…

Not as dated as I was expecting, yet unlike today's films and movies. It was kind of dreamy and historical, more documentary than horror (documentaries never have a plot either). Good-looking vampires, and the little girl actress was…

Neil Jordan's adaptation of the Anne Rice novel works fairly well. It follows a melancholy vampire (Pitt) telling his story to a reporter in the present day, recounting the tale of the vampire who made him, the girl he had a hand in…

I saw this in the theater when it first came out, eighteen years ago. It was big, then. The first person viewpoint on life as a vampire hadn't been done before, as far as I know, so it was fairly unique. Cruise commands attention as…

It was O.K for a home TV movie. I was entertained and interesting. But it was NOT worth the long library wait or the price to rent from a Red Box. "I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.”

Out of the two film adaptations of this series by Anne Rice, this is, by far, the better one of the two. It stuck to the story and produced a great visual version of the amazing work by Anne Rice. I do reccommend you read the book before…

My favorite movie and one of my favorite books. I have this entire film memorized word for word. A very fantastic film which chronicles the life of one of the main characters of Anne Rice's stories. It begins with the beginning of his…
