Item Details

Every so often a love story so captures our hearts that it becomes more than a story-it becomes an experience to remember forever. The Notebook is such a book. It is a celebration of how passion can be ageless and timeless, a tale that moves us to laughter and tears and makes us believe in true love all over again... At thirty-one, Noah Calhoun, back in coastal North Carolina after World War II, is haunted by images of the girl he lost more than a decade earlier. At twenty-nine, socialite Allie Nelson is about to marry a wealthy lawyer, but she cannot stop thinking about the boy who long ago stole her heart. Thus begins the story of a love so enduring and deep it can turn tragedy into triumph, and may even have the power to create a miracle...

After the death of James Garner I decided to watch one of my favorite movies "The Notebook" and then wanted to read the book again. i love both but am partial to the book version. i do enjoy all of Nicholas sparks books.

This is the fourth book I’ve read by Nicholas Sparks including The Lucky One, A Walk To Remember and Safe Haven. Though it was not my favourite, it was still a beautiful story that I could not put down. The Notebook follows the lives of Noah and Allie, two people who were once in love but torn apart. Fourteen years later, as Noah reads on his porch Allie reappears and old love hidden deep inside them once again resurfaces. They begin to fall deeply in love, more than before but there is one major obstacle stopping them. Now Allie must decide- does she want to live the life she always thought she’d have, or a life filled with passion and love and happiness?

Even though I found this plot intriguing, it had no moral value of any kind.

I’ve always been a fan of Nicholas Sparks. Even though I hate sad endings, what Nicholas Sparks is famous for, somehow I always find myself reading his books. It’s kind of like when the girl in the horror movie opens the closet door, despite all the scary music. The notebook is told by Noah, a retired man reliving his love life. Noah met Allie one summer, and couldn’t forget about her afterwards. 14 years later, she randomly shows up at his door. The two have dinner and discuss what would have happened if they stayed together. The love between the two of them is obvious, but time has separated them and there are complications. This story truly shows what soul mates are. What is a soul mate? Is it the person you marry? I always thought that, but a soul mate is someone you can connect to on different levels, and even though you love them, you might lose contact with them. The title of the book is the Notebook because Noah is reading the love story of Allie and Noah from a book that was written by him and Allie. This book really showed that, love doesn’t always have a happy ending but it is always there. “So it's not gonna be easy. It's going to be really hard; we're gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me... everyday.” Love is something you work at, but something that comes naturally. It is passionate and it is tender as well. This book displayed how love changes you, for the good and bad, you find someone who can see your good and bad and except both sides because they want all of you, forever.

this book is kinda weird. like, this old guy is telling the story of his love ( that part is really nice) and apparently he wrote down everything in his notebook, so at the end of the story we go back to the old man in the nursing home who tells the story every day to his wife, who has a terrible memory and sees little gnomes or something running around. the part about the love story is great, though. The part with the old man is kind of boring and slightly confusing. its a pretty good book though.

I love the poetic writing. The words flow so well together, and I hate real poetry. A beautifully tragic story.

One of the best love stories put to paper. Can't wait to see the movie one day.
Read it in the Large print as the regular print list was way too long.

I cried and laughed many times throughout the book. I wouldn't mind reading this book over and over again. :)
