Kind of like Hitchcock-- Very good. From a different era than ours, with different tastes and styles, Davis is a little bit campy, over the top, and veers into melodrama. Would this be what they call chewing the scenery? Crawford is a bit more modulated -- there's a character arch; Davis is full on gargole from the get go--trying too hard, as if she is acting for the oscar. If she had just dialed it back a notch, less of a vampire, it would be less of a cartoon. Still, great entertainment.

Wonderfully bent and twisted flick from Robert Aldrich with the one and only pairing of these two icons who weren't particularly warm and fuzzy about each other. Davis was exquisitely creepy as Baby Jane. She blamed Crawford for plotting against her to lose out on the Oscar, but I've seen Anne Bancroft's performance in "The Miracle Worker", to whom Davis lost, and Bancroft deserved it. Hands down. I would've given this five stars, but I didn't like the ending. It kind of fell flat. And What Ever Happened To Blanche, for crying out loud?

Blanche: "You wouldn't be able to do these awful things to me if I weren't still in this chair!" Jane: "But you ARE, Blanche! You ARE in that chair!"
