I chose to watch this movie because Jamie Dornan is in it and he's playing Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey. I wanted to see how talented he is. The downside was, this movie was so awful and bad that I could only watch the first hour. I wasn't able to even see Jamie's character. There is something about Sophia Coppla's films that are just weird and hard to understand. I say all of you should skip this movie.

I liked it! t was simply done! It stuck with her point of view without all the politics. It showed her desperation to have the heir born in a situation where her husband would not make love to her or any woman. At least he was not with another woman! Finally, she had her children with him & they became happy together. The costumes were great! Strong characters! PG13 with some nudity but overly sexual. No violence in the story.

This film by Sofia Coppola has lavish settings, beautiful costumes and is a feast for the eyes. However, there is not much of a story and the film ended without the most crucial part, i.e. the tragic ending for the queen and her husband. Go for it if you just want good eye candy. The rock sound track is also off the mark for this film.

Wow. Really bad. One of the rare period films that I wasn't able to suffer through even for the sake of the splendid costumes and sets. Nothing happens, the acting is pretty basic, the accents are all over the world, the lines drop like stones, and what is up with the modern music soundtrack?

I was inspired to watch this video dramatization by my daughter. It is a little slow moving, and stops short of Marie Antoinette's trial. When we searched for this title , a documentary type version was listed and I watched that. She is portrayed at her trial on that one.

Being an amateur student of Marie Antoinette, I have to admit I was quite alarmed when I heard about this particular movie verson of her life. Marie Antionetted as rock star? Well, my misgivings were for naught because Coppala creates a visual masterpiece. Kirsten Dunst does an excellent job of playing the doomed Queen when she was in her element as the hostess of Versailles, and most famous Queen of her day. She was a celebrity in the way we know it today. But celebrity also has it's drawbacks as Marie found out late in the movie when the French public were creating the most outrageous lies about her. While this is not as good as the Antonia Fraser book the movie was based on, it did a credible job of portraying Marie Antoinette as a somewhat spoiled child having a great time.....until political events forced her to grow up. I hope for a sequal to this movie which deals with what happens after Versailles is stormed by the mob. Recommended viewing.

This was an okay movie. I thought that Kirsten Dunst was a perfect choice to play Marie Antoinette. There wasn't a lot of dialogue, but she played the part to perfection. Some of the music didn't go with the scenes, and it was kinda slow at some parts, but overall I liked it. Some might disagree, but I thought that the ending was perfect!!! And I didn't find it to Hollywood!! I love that whole time with royalty, and planned marriages. I find it interesting, so this was a good movie for me. Overall, I would say that it's worth your time.
