One of my favorite series, it's very well written with an interesting story, I highly suggest it, the next two books just add to it's greatness! I highly suggest reading this series!

This is one of my favorite series, but not because of the first book. It is interesting and held my attention, but the best part of this book are the next two in the series. If you find yourself frustrauted with Mary (as I often did), hang in there. The rest of the series is worth the wait.

I could not decide if I wanted to continue to read this book, and a few times I almost gave up on it. I didn't like Mary very much, and although the story line was interesting I felt it took too long to get into it. I did eventually finish the book, but still didn't love it. I'm not sure if I am going to read the sequels as the ending didn't really leave me wanting more.

I love dystopian/post-apocalyptic tales. I really wanted to love this book, but I found myself rolling my eyes halfway through. I realize that the majority of my disdain stems from the fact that I'm not the demographic Carrie Ryan is writing for. But I find it hard to believe that the average teenage girl wouldn't be exasperated by the number of times the protagonist, Mary, cried. No Katniss Everdeen, this one. That being said, I was interested enough to finish it, and will probably read the sequels. I'm rooting for Mary to develop as a character, and to find the answers to the mysteries kept from her and her village.

very creepy society! great distopian read.

i thought it was going to be good. and it is good if you are into zombies but its not for me

I LOVE this book. but one down turn was it felt like the author was skipping out on movements and actions because it's like, how'd she get there? But otherwise it was a amazing book and i just got the third one. AMAZING!!!!

I LOVED this book.. it's an amazing series and i recommend anyone to read this, as well as the other 2 books after, which are also amazing!! :) the characters are rlly strong and it also has romance. The books are rlly well written with amazing twists and unexpected turns .. i couldn't put the book down until i was done and then i just went and put a hold on the next one right after.. LOL :p everyone should give it a try :)

When I return my hands are red and raw from gathering the snow. I slowly approach the bed. The patient is calm now, and when he hears my shoes against the wooden floor he turns and I see who it is. "Travis," I gasp. My voice feels raw in my throat and I look around quickly to make sure that Sister Tabitha has not heard me speak. I have no doubt that she would send me into the Forest if she felt the need. "Mary," he wishers. "Oh, Mary." He reaches out and grabs my hand and brings it toward his cheek such that I am pulled forward and I end up stumbling and falling onto my knees next to the bed.
