Ella convinces her boyfriend to run away with her to another Amish community. Lying to him and those around her. When she is found out they are separated and she discovers what is important to her. Several family mysteries are figured out which tie up loose ends from the other two books in the series, Amish Midwife and Amish Nanny. The characters are well rounded and realistic. Love is not forced or expected but must grow.
