Like "looper46", I had seen the lengthy obit of Mike Sadler in the NY Times, which made reference to this book. An outstanding story exceptionally well-told, proving once again that truth is stranger than fiction! Incredible exploits.…
Turned on to this book by reading obit of Mr. Stadler, died at 103, was " navigator" of group, leading them thru desert , but stars, sun etc. Libyan desert much like ocean.
Great read, a forgotten precursor to OSS & CIA.

I loved this book. I'd really had a very vague understanding of WWII. Reading this bookI learned about the war. And I learned about it from the very exciting viewpoint of the beginnings of the world of special forces. Excellent writing.
