Readers who enjoy the traditional British mystery should get a kick out of Simon Brett's "Mrs. Pargeter" series. In this title, the setting is the "Devereux", a seaside residence for a "nicer class" of retiree. Widowed Mrs. Pargeter is wealthy (check), but is a little too independent-minded, a little too working-class, and a little too curious about the death of an elderly resident to suit. Turns out, Mrs. Pargeter has what it takes to turn the tables on the snobs. Quirky characters, a very good plot, and fun to read. 1st in series.
