"In Fingerprints of the Gods, Graham Hancock embarks on a worldwide quest to put together all the pieces of the vast and fascinating jigsaw of mankind's hidden past. In ancient ruins as far apart as Egypt's Great Sphinx, the strange Andean temples of Tiahuanaco, and Mexico's awe-inspiring Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, he reveals not only the clear fingerprints of an as-yet-unidentified civilization of remote antiquity, but also disquieting signs of its vast sophistication, technological advancement, and evolved scientific knowledge." "Could the story of mankind be far older and far more mysterious than we have previously believed? Using tools as varied as archaeo-astronomy, geology, and computer analysis of ancient myths, Hancock presents a devastating case to suggest that it is." "As we recover the truth about prehistory, and discover the real meaning of ancient myths and monuments, it becomes apparent that a warning has been handed down to us, a warning of terrible cataclysm that afflicts the Earth in great cycles at irregular intervals of time." "A cataclysm that may be about to recur..."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. All Rights Reserved

This is both an entertaining and hard read. There's a bit of math in it. Don't let that dissuade. The book challenges beliefs and documents reasonable alternatives to established thinking.

If you are really interested in ancient history, this book is a must read. It is written like a novel but very informative. It challenges the mainstream Archaeology and asks very intelligent questions based on existing evidence. Five stars.
