Singer-songwriter Bob Seger has earned international acclaim for his devotion to the closely related styles of classic rock and roll plus traditional rhythm and blues music. Popular tracks such as "Rock And Roll Never Forgets", "Night Moves", and "The Fire Down Below" receive frequent airplay on all kinds of radio stations. That fact coupled with the proliferation of greatest hits collections and multi-artist collaboration albums brings up the question of whether or not to pick up Seger's original releases.

'Night Moves' is such a classic that's a shame not to give every track multiple listens. The three tracks mentioned above open the album, yes, but then it shifts to the fantastic "Sunburst", a mixture of energetic moments with points of soft-sounding reflection. The latter half of 'Night Moves' in particular includes the underrated tune "Mainstreet", an autobiographical piece about growing up in working-class Michigan with beautiful instrumental work. Even some of Seger's own fans may not know that the album features playing by the famous Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, and these include lesser known but still fun tunes such as "Come to Poppa" and "Sunspot Baby". Taken as a whole, 'Night Moves' is fantastic.
