Smart movie on a coach who borrowed Soviet Union playbook lock stock & barrel to win Olympic Gold medal.

Extremely moving and inspiring story. At the time of this game I was too young and also didn’t live in the US so never heard of it. I don’t think I would have survived the real stuff, because the whole last game I was one step from a heart attack! I was stunning that a team of 20 college kids were able to beat a professional team—a team of professional players, men on their prime, some of them had played together for 15 years!—an absolutely incredible feat, with hokey not being a very popular sport. Amazingly, it happened during the defeatist, we-can’t-do-it Carter administration! And to booth, they kicked commie derrière! That goes to prove that one can win if one really wants and works hard for it. Highly recommend it, especially for the young. (And watch the special feature at the end: they show takes of the real game.)

A very good movie that accurately portrays the life and times of the late seventies and early 80s.

The acting is first rate (especially by Kurt Russell and Patricia Clarkson), the "acting" hockey players are believable, and the cinematography is ahead of its time.

I like to watch this movie for inspiration and I think kids of all ages can appreciate this film.

One of my all-time favorites. Compelling storyline, engaging characters. I love how they spliced in footage from the actual 1980 game during the final game scenes.

Even though this film is very much in keeping with the usual Disney Entertainment philosophies, it is still an inspirational film and worth a look. It could even be used as a motivational tool. For anyone too young to have seen the 1980 Olympics or to have known about world events at that time, the film also serves as a bit of a history lesson. Would work well for a family movie night with kids 9 and over.
