After reading Stranger in the Woods and feeling disappointed over the quality, I appreciated this book a bit more, even though it does not stand up to the higher quality of First Snow in the Woods.

In this book, a fawn is spotted by other animals. They think he is lost when actually his mother has left him for a time for his safety. Many interesting animals are shown throughout the book.

I felt this book to be a bit too wordy and repetitive when simpler sentences would have sufficed. What carries the book is the colorful photographic introduction of many animals for young children. This book would be a great way to teach young children about these animals, their habitats and their ways of living.
