A great addition to your cooking shelf, but try it at the library first. Rick's extensive travels through and love of Mexico really show. Most dishes are simple "everyday" as the title suggests, but he does have a few show-stopping recipes for the weekends. His writing style is charming, and, if you have any interest in cooking Mexican recipes, this is one you won't want to miss.

Excellent book! It focuses on the healthy side of Mexican food, instead of the cheese-slathered, deep-fried food it has become in North America. This book is fantastic for the salad recipes alone - simple, but creative ideas for dressings (and really delicious). If you're looking for some simply, healthy and fresh meal ideas, then get this book. You'' love it!

EXCELLENT introduction to Mexican cuisine. Mr. Bayless goes over all the staples, including making your own homemade tortillas, cooking beans and refritos, salsas, and sauces for enchiladas. The section on guacamole alone makes it worth checking out this book. The author goes over the standard ingredients and ratios for making guacamole, and then goes several steps further by giving a variety of different things you can add and change to suit the guacamole to your taste. All the recipes are simple and easy to follow, and are not time-consuming. Highly recommended.
