Some aspects of this movie may not have been that polished, but never-the-less I am giving it 5 stars. I loved Smilla's fight for justice even though some of the acting was uneven. Julie Ormard did a great job. It was shot in Greenland and Denmark. Recommend

A poor, Hollywooded-up, travesty of a film. The novel of the same name is excellent; this film is a pathetic attempt to dumb-down the story and make the male friend/lover of Smilla more acceptable to American audiences by casting Mel Gibson in the part. I had the feeling Gibson never read the book. The ending of the film, with lots of things getting blown up, was quintessential Hollywood. Yuk. All thumbs down.
