Two great scenes of Coleen Gray and Victor Mature. Repulsive Richard Widmark. Strong Brian Donlevy, other supporting actors.

To be completely honest, I was actually quite impressed with this taut, well-paced Crime/Thriller from 1947. Its story was fairly believable, its characters were convincingly portrayed by a good cast of actors, and its director certainly showed a real keen sense of competence and a fine ability when it came to building, and, most importantly, sustaining the overall suspense and drama of the story._____ Though Kiss Of Death's plot-line was not in any way exceptional, nor overly violent, it did manage to hold this viewer's attention and keep me interested right through to its final, climatic showdown, which took place outside a restaurant in downtown NYC._____ Kiss Of Death's gritty, little story about "squealing" and cold-blooded revenge concerns one, Nick Bianco, a reformed, but, down-on-his-luck criminal who is forced back into the world of crime. Upon his inevitable arrest he finds himself informing on his ex-partners (for good reason)._____ Filmed in stark b&w, Kiss Of Death was directed by Henry Hathaway whose other notable films include The Dark Corner, Fourteen Hours, Call Northside 777 and Niagara.

Great performance as a crazed killer, by Richard Widmark in his first film. He won a Golden Globe and was Oscar nominated for best supporting role.

A great film noir with a memorable wheel-chair scene.
