Miles has an interesting writing technique in this book. She tells you ahead of time of a pending disaster. Then proceeds to tell the background before it happens. The style is unique to me and I will have to read her other book to see if it is an ongoing style. The story is about the lives of Adie and Willie Mae and how they handled what life threw at them even though they both are from different eras. Miles makes Adie and Willie Mae so life like that the reader can almost believe they really existed. Easy reading, hard to stop once you start. Lots of ups and downs, heartbreaking experiences, plus dark secrets that affected their lives.

Rural Georgia during Vietnam War era. Character is given a Civil War diary of a young girl during the war. Very Interesting.
