Good drawings, interesting characters, great storytelling. Like Seth's Palookaville, but way better.

Ice Haven is a small town populated by an oddball assortment of strange characters. When a young child is murdered, the townsfolk each react in different ways. Although the main art style is cartoonish, it gets somewhat schizophrenic because Clowes changes up the styles in each chapter.

I'm really not sure what ICE HAVEN was about. It has all the hallmarks of a Daniel Clowes book. It's disturbing, beautifully drawn, and makes you laugh in all the wrong places. Too aimlessly bizarre. Read THE DEATH RAY or WILSON instead.
