(*Lyrics excerpt*) - "Can you dig it?"

Born in Covington, Tennessee (1942) - (singer/songwriter) Isaac Hayes was a multiple music-award winner who (in 1972) won a "Best Music/Original Song" Oscar for writing/performing the theme song for the action film "Shaft".

To be sure - Hayes clearly had a very eclectic taste in music as his songs covered various genres, such as - soul, funk, jazz, and disco.

This "Best Of" CD contains 18 tracks in all which were recorded by Hayes (along with accompanying musicians) in the years from 1968-1974. Two of my favourite tunes are - "Walk On By" and "Theme from Shaft" (*watch music-video*).

*Note* - In 2008 - Isaac Hayes (65 at the time) died from a stroke.
