This is a superb soap opera with shades of brutal reality to it. One of the best movies I have seen in a while. Made me think. Radha Mitchell gave an outstanding performance and is the cornerstone of this film.

Thought I'd signed up for a Hallmark flick but surely this one was too racy for them. Thankfully Kinnear kept his clothes on.

Love gives us promise, but it can be a promise so easily broken whether it’s a parent for a child, a woman for her lover, or something as pure and innocent as a first love. Although still grieving from his son’s death Professor Harry Stevenson, played by Morgan Freeman, is the outsider seeing love the way others whom are in it can’t. He sees Bradley, played by Greg Kinnear, oblivious to his wife falling in love with a woman right in front of his eyes; he sees Chloe and Oscar start on the precarious path of young love. Behind closed doors everyone has a story…some give too much of themselves, but others don’t give enough. In the movie Feast of Love, which is based on the novel The Feast of Love by Charles Baxter, one thing is for sure love always comes when you least expect it in varying ways and situations and can just as easily leave in the same way.

Not great, but an interesting interweaving of romance stories.

This movie plays out like an intelligent soap opera, with scenes cutting between the various couples. Scripting is good, acting is above average, and all the actors have great chemistry. This is a good date night movie.

An unexpected gem. I had never heard of this film, but was attracted by the popular actors (Freeman and Kinnear). Heartwarming and enjoyable.

Such an unusual style and story line for a modern film with these great actors however the themes and ideas that run through the film are some of the most common and accessible of all time.

Harry Stevenson: Sometimes you don't know you've crossed a line until you're already on the other side. Of course, by then it's too late.

Esther Stevenson: How was your walk? Did I miss anything?
Harry Stevenson: A cool breeze, a softball game, and two women falling in love.
Esther Stevenson: With each other?
Harry Stevenson: And one of them is married. The funny thing is, nobody noticed. Not even the husband, two feet away.
Esther Stevenson: [chuckles] I'm sorry I missed that.
Harry Stevenson: I imagine he will be, too.
