An absolute gem of an album that is a thrill to listen to. Gorgeous melodies that occasionally recall the '60s stylings of The Byrds, a very danceable bass and drum groove, and varied, swirling guitar stylings courtesy of John Squire, who sounds a bit like a cross between Jimi Hendrix and Johnny Marr. The result adds up to something that still sounds fresh, inventive, and joyful.
This is definitely one of those 'must listen' albums for anyone with an interest in alternative music at all. One of my all time favourites that simply never gets old.
A classic album. Flawless. Ten stars out of five.
Dance music played on real instruments. It works surprisingly well.
