When Columbus stepped ashore in 1492, millions of people were already living in America. It wasn't exactly a 'New World,' but an old one whose inhabitants had built a vast infrastructure of cities, orchards, canals, and causeways. But after Columbus set foot in the Americas, an endless wave of explorers, conquistadors, and settlers arrived, and with each of their ships came a Noah's Ark of plants, animals, and disease. Here is an exploration into the mysterious world of ancient American history.

A good but dated comparison of the new and old worlds. This was a disappointment to me as it was not a documentary entirely about "The Americas Before Columbus". The first half of the documentary was this with the latter being dedicated to Europe and the decimation of the Americas. I was looking for something more about the history of Native Americans before colonization.

Excellent - wonderful cinematography, great re-enactments, and a fascinating contrast between life in the New and Old Worlds.

The title and description are totally misleading. of the 90 minute documentary, the first 45 minutes talk about the comparison of the Americas and Europe around 1491, just before Columbus lands in the Caribbean. The remaining 45 minutes actually talks of what happened in Europe and America *AFTER* Columbus' landing, going about 200 years in.
I am not questioning or debating the content of the documentary and the visuals are quite stunning. However this was not what I was expecting when I got this from the library - I was hoping to learn historical accounts of the first people, and there was almost none of that.

It is not bad per se, but I don't know that it is any more in-depth than a middle school geography lesson

It went on so much detail about some irrelevant topics . 5/ 10

It is is mostly NOT about America before Columbus. Additionally it makes a lot of generalisations, oversimplifications and even some untrue statements. Quite disappointing.

documentary - very informative covering North, Central and South. Some very large settlements I hadn't heard of.
