Comment
Add a CommentA French Jewess and an Arabic Tunisian are friends from childhood but their lives are disrupted when the Nazis occupy Tunisia during WWII. Things become complicated when the Nazis convince the Arabs to take their side in the conflict. People are cajoled into becoming collaborators and Jews are forced into labor camps. And things get murky because of different Islamic interpretations of the goodness of Jews and Christians.
Set in the WWII and Tunisia, the film is about the bonding between a Muslin girl and a Jewish girl, and the oppression of the Jews by the French and the German. The bonus for me is a glimpse into the local culture and customs. The film was well directed and well acted. In French and Arabic with subtitles.
