During the Christmas season I tend to watch some of the Hallmark Christmas movies and I loved the one Christmas with Holly. I didn't realize until my mother pointed it out that it was actually based on the book Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor. So immediately I set out to read it. As with most book to movie versions, the book was much better--what can I say I like the extra details. Movies inevitably change things and this one did, but both were satisfying. I loved the characters, the brothers and their relationship with Holly. Alex is the only brother that is really different in the book. Still I love the book and the characters, and now that I know it is a series, I can't wait to read more. A sweet romance and fun Christmas read.

Enjoyable, light romance.
Although there is the aftermath of death in the book for several characters, love, caring and Christmas enchantment are not overshadowed by unhappiness and sorrow.

A great, sweet read for the beach or a snowy day. A touching story and made me grin in a few places too.

Charming short novella to start off the Friday Harbor series. I thought the conflict was a bit contrived, and the story lacked the depth it could have had, but it's a sweet story and very well-written.

A little teary, a bit giggly, some romance a good story. Loved the setting. I'm in Bellingham frequently and in Fairhaven every chance I get. The best feel good book I've read in a very long time. Thanks Lisa.

I adore Lisa Kleypas' historical romances, but was very excited when I heard about this one since it's set on San Juan Island in Washington State (where I live). I always enjoy books that are set somewhere familiar, it just makes it extra special. I don't usually read novellas or Christmas romances but i was pleasantly surprised by the length of the novel and that the holidays were a part of it but did not overwhelm the love story. The characters were great and I hope the author has plans for books for Mark's brothers Sam and Alex. Plus Mark's niece (whom he becomes legal guardian/father of) is named Holly can't help but love that.

This book is a VERY fast read, yet enjoyable. There are a few spots near the end of the book that are just so funny. I haven't laughed out loud reading in a long time.
