dprodrig: Until I read your scathing description of forcible tithing and teen suicide, I was all for seeing this video. If, in truth, it Does describe such fallacies, it is based on lies. Tithing is strictly voluntary in the United LDS Church, which is 90% of all Mormons you will encounter. Only a radical splinter cult, like the Koridians or such, would call themselves: "Mormons" and force tithing and compliance and guilt; polygamy, any thing at all.
Then, again, this could be propaganda spread by Mormon-haters. Easy to see the worst in people. Anyone who hates anyone is no Christian, anyway, their opinion is then meaningless. Could be of the devil. Maybe I should check it out and see for myself.
P.S: dprodrig; same sex marriage is not a right. Neither is driving. Look up legal definition of marriage. It is a civil ceremony of a man and a woman, woman takes on his name. It must be done by licensed justice of peace or ordained chaplain of some recognized church. Only legalities are rights.
"it's" means: It Is. Not the possessive.
This documentary exposes how the Mormon Church in the United States was able to mobilize it's resources in order to establish proposition 8, the definition of marriage being limited to a man and a woman, to the California landscape. This overturned the right to same sex marriage.
The ability of this Church to mobilize its people is really quite Orwellian. The fact that it obligates families to empty their life-savings to support the Church is heartbreaking. What's really sad about all of this is the number of teens rejected from their Church who either become homeless or who commit suicide as they feel they have truly committed a grievous sin.
Watch this doc. It's worth it.
