Why? Because I thought it would be an enriching and profound story on how our lives are all connected. Why? Because I had no idea one melodrama could contain so many very annoying characters.

This is a whimsical journey done with real charm and quirkiness containing lines like "Oh, you like cemeteries.". Every scene had a kind of quiet intensity that belied its simple setting, dialogue and action (such as there was). It's sometimes slow-moving (one should perhaps say leisurely) but always insightful and pithy. Although set in modern times, it reminded me very much of the '60's when being, thinking, talking as acted out here was 'normal' and unpretentious. Just a gem.

While I enjoyed the artistic element - the black and white film interchanged with color and the many symbolic signs throughout, I remained at a distance from the characters and the main character -- I could NOT just wrap my mind around someone having all the time in the world to process a bad jolt in his life one $20 encyclopedia at a time. Thus at the end when I should have experienced a sugar high -- I felt nothing.

Decent movie, Stratham's acting as always, excellent.
