I had always wanted to read this because it came highly recommended by a teen and it did not disappoint! Sarcastic asides with great action, this audiobook is fun for multi-age listening.

My sons and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story. It's a funny, quirky children's fantasy. While the main character has some significant introspective/personal growth moments, the tone stays light and playful. We especially liked the narrator's asides.

Alcatraz Smedry discovers he's actually an occulator and goes on an adventure to the local library where he battles evil librarians with the help of his newly discovered family members. A quirky fantasy read for kids. The reader on the cd does a good job too!
