After reading this book, I thought, "Well! That was different!" Louis gets eaten and his sister races to save him before he is digested. Unfortunately the animal who eats him in turn is eaten and so on for 5 animals worth. After each new animal, the sister must change tactics to chase the new animal.

I love how Sarah was clever by creating machines to assist her travel. She was constantly prepared for any event. It is interesting to note that Sarah was clever, but when faced with five hungry animals, Louise simply yelled at them in his mean voice and they fled.

This story is absolute absurd nonsense that school aged children will enjoy. The illustrations are interesting and fun. I would not recommend this book for the little ones as being eaten by animals can be a frightening business even though this book is not overly violent.

Our 2.5 and 4 year old kids loved this book. As a parent I thought it was wonderfully creative, well-written and well-illustrated. Although I wouldn't necessarily have chosen to read this 3-4 times a day, it's a pretty interesting book to read over and over again. I was put off by the title at first, concerned it may be too scary for our kids, but the story is light-hearted and fun, and our children were ok with it.

Strange creatures and a hiccup frog – who wouldn’t want to gobble up this story!
