This book is okay, but not Nora's best. The hero Eli has too much angst, and the lady Abra is too New Agey and somewhat occult. Do not like her at all. Her name should be Abra-cadabra.
Originality is lacking. I can picture someone saying, "It was a dark and stormy night..."
A disappointing read. Skimmed the last third to look for plot. Nora should not have created a female character who is a bar maid, and reads tarot cards, as these types are the dregs of society.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. The plot -- a man suffering from the murder of his wife, and whom the court of public opinion has declared guilty who returns to his (of course) palatial family home on the beach -- could have been trite; add to it pirate treasure (!!), a freewheeling housekeeper/yoga instructor, a dog named Barbie... you get my drift. But WHISKEY BEACH is a fun, and touching read, rising above the cliches to give us a pretty good legal thriller, family history, and love story.

Once again, Nora Roberts excels at her craft! I loved this book. The plotline kept you hooked from the beginning. I didn't want to put it down and I felt I could connect with the characters. Definitely will buy this one to reread! :)

One of Nora Roberts best. Great story and characters. Couldn't put it down, read in just over one day. Can't wait for her next one!

I was skeptical but this is the best book I've read in a very long time. Like The Forgotten Garden meets Lincoln Lawyer! Would love to see a movie adaptation with Matthew McConaughy as Eli!!
