This is a fantastic and inventive film using stop-action animation. The original Czech dialogue has been replaced with an English sound track using some well-known American actors. It is described on this web site as "an enchanting and fantastic adventure for the entire family." I question that. it's certainly not for young children. I found it frightening. and the old-world irony and political overtones make it a challenge for American viewers. But it's well done.

This is a detailed and imaginative stop-motion film for kids and adults alike. Younger kids under age 6 might be scared by some of the scenes or characters, but otherwise this is a creative work of art!

Families who like quirky European films are going to love this!

ages 6 and up

An odd but good claymation picture. The rescuse of a girl from evils clutches. Really liked the effects and the mouse who can make anything.

From the box art in the listing it looked like it would be a fun little movie for my 3 year old daughter. I saw that it was ready to pick up and went to youtube to see the trailer. Canceled the hold as It is not appropriate content for a 3 year old. Watch the trailer first before you take it out to show your kids.

If ever there was a labor of love, constructive imagination, and meticulous care, this is it. The film creates a world of its own in the attic of an old house by Ingeniously piecing together, and animating by stop motion, toys, game pieces, and generations of stored bric a brac. A world under attack by a dark world that shares the attic, where a despot commands a similarly constructed society of insects and debris. When the despot kidnaps Buttercup, the two worlds must fight.----- Although the film is mostly stop motion there is some live action and traditional animation deftly mixed in.

interesting movie, some questionable scenes for kids to view, like the one boiling baby body parts.
