This was great! Bordelli has to deal with child killers, Nazi criminals and infatuation. This was dark, but absolutely compelling. I could not put it down; read it in less than a week. This series is translated by Stephen Sartarelli; check the back for notes.

Here we have a detective who is well written, and believable. This translation from the Italian is an excellent read.

Vichi's detective is fascinating: depressed, sardonic, shaped by WWII and knowledgeable about the best eateries in Florence. Between police work, unexpected hilarity and philosophy this slice of Inspector Bordelli's detecting style is captivating. Oh, and the comments about Italians' opinions of other Italians (Puglia, Sicily, Sardinia etc.) are delightful.
