In the early days of World War I, Germany, determined to bring its British enemies to their knees, launched a new kind of terror campaign: bombing civilians from the sky. The aircraft delivering the lethal payloads weren't planes, they were Zeppelins, enormous airships, some the length of two football fields. With a team of engineers, explosives experts, and historians, NOVA investigates the secrets behind these deadly war machines.

The zeppelin bomber in World War I was probably the world's first terrorist weapon. Its presence was very intimidating, almost like an alien mothership. It is surprising that a biplane's machinegun firing bullets into a zeppelin at close range will not cause the hydrogen gas inside the zeppelin to burn. I would rate "Zeppelin Terror Attack" at 5.0 stars.

This is a 2014 documentary produced for PBS (Public Broadcasting Service).
It explores the technological arms race that unfolded as Britain desperately scrambled to develop defenses, while German responded with ever bigger and more powerful Zeppelins.
Experts reconstruct and detonate deadly WWI incendiary bombs and test fire antique flaming bullets, all to discover how the British came up with the unique artillery that would finally take down the biggest flying machines ever made.
It is a gripping, fascinating and inspirational documentary.

An informative documentary on the history, science, and engineering behind the zeppelin, and its use as a weapon delivery device during the First World War.

Nice that the Library bought this DVD. I usually watch this like most PBS stuff on their website or Youtube for free. No Hoopla needed.
