I love the art in this book as much as the sweet message about sharing and being kind. I can't recommend this book enough.

What an amazing book. I am so impressed on how the author through his drawings was able to portray emotion. The page with the birds looking out, is exactly how birds act, as we have a cockatiel at home who regularly looks with question at the person he is interacting with. The story line is spot on expressing selfishness vs. selflessness. This is a family favorite ranging from grandma all the way down to my 10 month old son who cannot stop turning the pages back and forth to look at everything that is going on. Our family is purchasing this book to keep as a forever on the book shelf. Thank you so much!

If You Plant A Seed conveys a special message of sharing and kindness through the forest life of a mouse, bunny and a variety of species of birds. Beautifully detailed and captivating illustrations done in oil paint convey each animal's emotions and triggers conversations with children about the effects of behaviors like kindness, selfishness, cooperation while instilling virtues. A special story with a rewarding, meaningful message.

Stunning animal illustrations, so realistic they have a photographic quality, in this simple, yet poignant contrast of the effects of selfishness vs kindness.

Excellent in both its visual presentation and its message. A very sweet book about the roots of kindness.

This is a truly beautiful book! The pictures are stunning and the bunny and mouse are just adorable, but the message is what will capture your heart more than anything else. It's a must read in this day and age when people are dealing with the challenges of bullying. It would tie-in nicely with your gardening or veggie themes as well as kindness.

This story has brief text, focusing more on the message than the story. The illustrations are beautiful, but weren't enough to make it a successful group read. Better suited for one-on-one reading.

Gracious, this book is just beautiful. I just got finished reviewing a wordless picture book (had to give it 3 stars for no words) and while this one does not have a lot of words, the ones that are there are perfect for the stunning text. I was so impressed with the art in this one I had to show it to my husband (a bird fan but a non-fiction reader) and even he was impressed with the sharpness and realism of the paintings. Such a wonderful message, for children and adults alike. One of my new favorites for picture books. I'm going to point this out to the local librarians if they haven't yet found out about it. A real treasure. My favorite painting? Of the rabbit and mouse chomping down on carrot and tomato with tiny birds off in the distance approaching. You can just sense in that one frame that something is about to happen...I could go on and on.
