The "New York Times" bestselling author of "Otherwise Engaged" and "The Mystery Woman" presents an all-new novel of intrigue and murder set against the backdrop of Victorian London...
The Kern Secretarial Agency provides reliable professional services to its wealthy clientele, and Anne Clifton was one of the finest women in Ursula Kern's employ. But Miss Clifton has met an untimely end--and Ursula is convinced it was not due to natural causes.
Archaeologist and adventurer Slater Roxton thinks Mrs. Kern is off her head to meddle in such dangerous business. Nevertheless, he seems sensible enough to Ursula, though she does find herself unnerved by his self-possession and unreadable green-gold eyes...
If this mysterious widowed beauty insists on stirring the pot, Slater intends to remain close by as they venture into the dark side of polite society. Together they must reveal the identity of a killer--and to achieve their goal they may need to reveal their deepest secrets to each other as well...

One of the employees of The Kern Secretarial Agency, Anne Clifton, is dead, although her cause of death was unknown. Ursula Kern, her employer, decides to investigate her death. Slater Roxton, one of her wealthy clients, questions her purpose, and Kern reveals her plan to him. A suspenseful and romantic novel with numerous characters and events, Garden of Lies will keep you guessing till the end.

Follows the typical Amanda Quick template and I enjoyed it like I have all the others. Smart and strong female leads!

This is the first time I've read anything by Amanda Quick and it definitely won't be my last! It was and excellent period piece with intrigue as well as historical information. I'm hoping this will not be simply a stand alone novel, but will become a long running series. I highly recommend it!

This was a fun read. I also liked Quick's historical foray OUT of the paranormal. This was just a mystery.

Quick (aka Krentz) has definitely stepped up her game. This novel is one of her best in recent years.

Great plot and Lovable characters. Not nauseating in depicting extreme love feeling.
A good author is always easy to pick by the natural flow of words with proper grammar and easy to understand language.
