Debut novelist Callahan takes readers to New York City in the 1950s and into the lives of three very different young women living in the famed Barbizon Hotel for Women, 'at the corner of Lexington Avenue and 63rd Street.' Callahan said he was encouraged by friends and the Vanity Fair editors he worked for to take an article he'd written about the hotel and some of the now famous women who lived there at the start of their careers to a full-length book. This is it. A little flawed in places, but a good page-turner when he starts the first chapter with one of the women--not named--on the hotel’s roof about to jump. Not all happy endings for those residents.
