The first Ultimate Marvel reboot varies in quality. Brian Micheal Bendis is known for slow-paced, dialouge-heavy storytelling, which doesn't always work. For example, Peter telling Mary Jane he's spider-man takes up a whole issue (about a 7th of the hardcovers), which is a bit long. Story arks sometimes loose weight because of this. However, some of the stories are good. A few interesting changes are the Peter/MJ/Gwen dynamic changed by introducing MJ first, and not having Peter like Gwen. Also, a lot of backstories were changed and new vilians were introduced. Some of them were interesting characters (like Moon Knight) and others were overused and had nothing special about them (like Omega Red) Not one of the best Ultimate Comics, but readable.
