When Doris Miller meets John Fremont sparks fly-at least for Doris. In the cluttered house she shared with her late mother. When Doris begins showing up at John's regular haunts, she wins over his Williamsburg friends. Her new life brings Doris a thrilling perspective, but also creates a rift between her and her longtime friends and family, who believe she's making a fool of herself over a guy half her age.

At least I can say that I have watched the movie from beginning to end without pushing the "eject" button. The Desperate Old "Spinster" may be a good fit for the title.

It was sweet and sad- at times uplifting and at times a bit depressing. The acting was great and the story line was very enjoyable.

I LOVE Doris! I want a friend like her. This movie was so much fun! The chemistry between Sally Field and Max Greenfield was amazing.

Sally Field is excellent as an aging single woman. I found the story partially realistic and sad. The perception of happiness is discutable.

Silly and more funny than anything I've seen in a while.

Sally Field and Tyne Daly do a great job. However, the whole plot line is depressing with Doris (Sally) spending most of her life taking care of her mom. At least she finally turns her life around at the end and gets a life of her own.
