I don't normally read romance, but I put forth a lot of effort in trying to judge this fairly. The thriller backstory (heroine on the run from the drug cartel) kind of overshadows the classic rekindled love story. I blame the format, as the truncated Bookshot length leaves only time for shoot outs and makes outs; where are the sweep-me-off-my-feet romantic gestures? The premise is pretty interesting, I just wish there had been more time for it to develop. As such, it functions better as crime/thriller than romance.
