He made himself an island until something unexpected washed ashore. When Holton lost his wife, Adele, in a freak accident, he shut himself off from the world, living a life of seclusion, making driftwood sculptures and drowning his pain in gin. Until twenty-three-year-old Libby knocks on his door, asking for a job and claiming to be a friend of his late wife. When he discovers Libby is actually his late wife's illegitimate daughter, given up for adoption without his knowledge, his life is turned upside down as he struggles to accept that the wife he'd given saint status to was not the woman he thought he knew. Together Holton and Libby form an unlikely bond as the two struggle to learn the identity of Libby's father and the truth about Adele, themselves, and each other.

Hope, restoration and forgiveness. It can't get any better from a Christian author.
The setting is on the beautiful, peaceful Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Gina Holmes has a way with her stories that make you feel like you are part of the story. Driftwood Tides is about is a story that will touch your heart. Holton is losing himself in drinking blaming himself for his wife's death five years before and the guilt drove him to drink. Libby is a young lady who finds out through a blood test before she is getting married that she is not her parents child. Her mother hands her adoption papers and Libby goes looking for her biological mother. When she thinks she has found her, she finds out she was killed 5 years before. She finds her biological mother's husband passed out in an inebriated state in his shack at Nags Head, NC. We are taken on the roller coaster adventure of her posing to be an intern to find out who her birth mother really was. And who was her biological father?

Once I started reading the book I did not want to put it down.
