I LOVED this book! The story is incredibly incredibly original. The plot has great twists and turns. The characters are interesting and unique. The heroine is strong, independent and likeable (which is a rare combination in YA literature, as so many heroines are either simpering wallflowers like Bella Swan or very hardened like Katniss). And the romance is heartbreaking and believable.
The author is a National Book Award finalist, and you can really tell. She weaves together a great story using prose that is absolutely beautiful.
I think this is among the best (if not the best) paranormal romances I have ever read, and that includes the amazing work by Anne Rice.
