Here's the thing. Yasmin's voice will suck you in because she is always speaking to "you." Who is you? You better keep reading. But the end? The end threw me and I had to Google what happened. There are theories out there. Maybe you'll come up with your own. "Things We Have in Common" would also be a great thriller-type novel for teens.

Absolutely gripping portrait of a grief-addled obese girl who faces bullying at school and lives in a fantasy world of her own making.

I would call this a unique piece of fiction [simply because it is relatively difficult to classify and qualify]. An intriguing read; somewhat interesting in that it really isn't Young Adult, although it isn't quite horror, and not quite a murder mystery, but somewhere in between? [Publishers Weekly critic is far closer to being on target, the other is out to lunch!]

Ugh. If you want to be thoroughly sickened, read this book. It's all about the disturbed ramblings of a teenage mind. I kept reading, hoping for a conclusion. Wish I hadn't. Not one uplifting thing about this book.

I would have given this book 5 stars were it not for the anti-climactic ending. Still, it was a real page turner.
