A great book with a wide range of emotions from hilarious to devastatingly sad. I usually read a book before watching it's adaption, but in this case, visualizing the characters in the movies enhanced the reading experience and made it more enjoyable.

A good read, but it took a while for the plot to "ripen" and get interesting. Also some characters were better drawn than others. But the terror and horror of living through the Blitz in London during 1940 and 1941 were vividly described. Also includes a lot of fascinating detail on the gritty, time-consuming and very unglamorous details of movie-making.
