the storyline was pretty good but i think another author could have done a better job of storytelling.

If you took English classes in high school or college, you probably struggled through (and cursed) Joseph Conrad's dense, heavily symbolic "Heart of Darkness." While still his most read work, he was quite prolific and his other novels are, if not exactly easy, more accessible. "Under Western Eyes" is one of his later novels that explores the Russian soul (Conard was Polish), in a way that recalls Dostoevsky, and political radicalism. Also see "The Secret Agent."
