Not to many jump scares and a slow start. It's not the best James Wan movie ever but it will still keep you at the edge of your seat.

Loads of scary fun. If you like Poltergeist or The Exorcist, you'll enjoy The Conjuring.

Did not know this was based on a true story. I will forever have nightmares because of this movie.

At first I thought this was just going to be another horror movie but when I saw that it’s based on a true story, I actually got chills and goosebumps all over my body. This movie has some really scary images, sound effects and voices. I would not recommend watching this movie alone. The plot was amazing and the story line was pretty good. I really liked how the family is getting used to the new house and things happen, and then they call Ed and Lorraine Warren to investigate. It was just so intense. There definitely were some good jump scares, in terms of images, sound and even voice. I know I got scared really badly.
So if you dare to watch this movie alone, beware, you are in for a scare.

Before watching this movie I had heard it was incredibly terrifying. While I think it was a decent scare and thrill, it was certainly not worthy of that much hype. A couple moves into a house on Rhode Island. Like other paranormal movies, things are quite normal in the beginning. However, as time passes, the oddities do not go unnoticed. The couple realizes that something is definitely wrong and they invite a pair of investigators, Lorraine and Ed, to help them. The pair confirms that their house is in fact housing an evil entity. Will Ed and Lorraine be able to eradicate the presence of evil from the house or will evil prevail?

Terribly overwrought, overblown ghostly claptrap. It uses every ghost movie cliche and badly. Less is always more in a good horror film. It's a terrible movie compared to "The Changeling," "The Innocents," or "Haunted."

One of the scariest, best horror films ever!

A few moments of terror -- the usual stuff of someone looking one way and then the next and something coming out of nowhere -- but little else to see here. Any suspense is ruined because there's no development -- just dashing right into the supernatural goings on. It's really a mashup of "Poltergeist" (a film I didn't like, as you might guess) and "The Exorcist," and not in any good way.

Frightening or Intense Scenes: The backstory of the demon is very dark, and involves hangings, suicide, and ritual sacrifice.
