A dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin -- exploring a world in which every human appetite, not matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged. Exploring what it means to be human through the eyes of the lifelike AI "hosts" in the park, the series investigates the boundaries of an exotic world set at the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past. Meticulously crafted and artfully designed. Westworld offers its guests an unparalleled, immersive world where they have the freedom to become who they've always wanted to be -- or who they never knew they were. No rules, no laws, no judgment. Live without limits.

This series takes itself very seriously but becomes too convoluted to be really appreciated. It rides the shock factor for as long as it can but undoes its production with some really horrible dialogue, twists that really serve to open the door to long-winded info-dumps, and a lack of trust in its audience. Do they really need to literally ask the major questions of the series? Do they need to state the themes in wooden, placating speeches again, and again, and again? Emotional subplots are undercut and the excellent cast is underutilized. Honestly, if I took a drink every time a man said, in the deepest voice he could muster and as little emotion as a piece of paper, “Dolores,” I would have alcohol poisoning.

Anthony Hopkins is a wondrous spectacle but his character is predictably menacing. Overall, how unfortunate. I recommend the first episode: watch it, enjoy it, and leave it. You’ll get what you need without all the b.s. that holds this series back from being both enticing and worthwhile.

This is loosely taken from Michael Crichton's screenplay "Westworld". In the original film, robots run amok and kill the guests at an amusement park. In this version, it's completely updated for this decade with all kinds of technical wizardry. The park is placed in Utah and there's some stunning scenery. What's confusing for some is that the story begins in the present and takes you through the past. It is difficult to make out what is the past and what is the present because the robots' memories are wiped after each day. What enables them to remember parts of those memories is a new software update called "reveries". Now suddenly the robots remember those who have hurt them and seek escape as well as revenge. Season two comes out April 2018 (this month). It's probably the best series HBO ever put out, certainly much better than Game of Thrones.

Extreme nudity to the point you don't even see it anymore. Bad language, It is showing mankind at their worst and making excuses for why it is okay to be horrible. The Robots show more decency than the humans. Don't let children watch if you do expect more mass school shootings.
