I’m disappointed with this book. “The Last Mrs. Parrish” was disturbing but well written. This book has too many characters to keep up with and the story is overwrought. DNF.

I agree with the person who commented that this book is tedious at times. The characters are not fleshed out at all so it can be hard to care about them and the few that you have more information on you mostly just get slightly different iterations of the same info over and over, no new insight is really given except at the twists at the end. Also the dialogue from character to character has no individuality. Every person in the book speaks the exact same way from diction to cadence etc, even the main Baltimore detective (who one would imagine does not speak like a prep schooler or socialite). It feels like the sisters who wrote the book don't know fully how to inhabit their characters as real people and instead write them as nothing more than basic pawns in a story. I definitely found The Other Mrs Parrish to be better and more enjoyable but in many ways this book is more of the same (character types, dialogue, neuroses) just not done nearly as well.

It's nice to read a "who done it" book like this one. I had my suspicions but could not put the book down. Very good read.

I found this story tedious, it just kept going on and on. I really didn't enjoy it.

The Last Time I Saw You by Liv Constantine is a psychological thriller about the dysfunction of Baltimore high society. Dr. Kate English has it all: she is a physician, wife and mother, living in a showcase home and is also the heiress to a family fortune. Tragedy strikes when her mother Lily is brutally murdered and the police haven't a clue who the perpetrator could be. Blaire Barrington, Kate's best friend in earlier years, comes to the funeral to offer her support and to help unearth information about the murder. Soon after the funeral, Kate begins to receive threatening texts promising that she is next. The tension intensifies till Kate becomes paranoid and starts doubting the integrity of several people in her life. Who could have killed Lily and is the same person coming for her? Suspicions of infidelity, betrayals and dishonesty only succeed to confuse. The resolution will astonish. This is a great title for beach or cottage reading.

This one did not grip me the way "The Last Mrs. Parrish" did. I found myself bored especially in the middle. The text messages and the gifts were clearly from someone close to Kate, yet the security team and police seemed so inept. I was annoyed by their lack of initiative. They seemed always be reacting rather than trying to get ahead of the string of threats. The plot twist was average and seemed to be ill-timed. Too late, I think? I did find Blaire's storyline to be quite interesting, but Kate not so much. Anyway, this was just a bit over average.
