Just on the strength of the lead actress this movie is a must see. There's always the question of historical accuracy but that's up for the viewer to further research. The special features are worth watching and I wish I had taken the time to watch the movie with the commentary playing to discover how they determined what would be included in the movie and the artistic choices they made.

Well done movie about the courage of a black woman's fight for freedom for herself and for other slaves.

Coming from a Sundown Town (Blacks had to leave prior to Sundown) and attending a university of 10,000 including a mere 4 African-American students, for me, this was a late, yet welcome lesson in African-American history. The only negative aspect was that the film is somewhat formulaic. If Harriet Tubman replaces Andrew Jackson on the 20 dollar bill, this film will become a desired asset for your next cocktail party.

With God there is always hope, otherwise this story could have turned out hopeless and gloomy. Good and evil always will be side by side, one has to choose. Looking back to the history I am grateful for Canada’s open arms. Be good to this country.

One tough women with a set of you know what. We gave it the high rating because it was a true story. She made a difference in many lives and was instrumental in freeing slaves.
A driven person on a mission and a tremendous faith in God.

small things in a movie, inattention to detail, hurried and unexplained things can ruin a good movie. Ten slaves dragging hoes on some dusty ground, jeez they'd all starve to death. How did Harriet get any food or water on her first journey? Expressionless faces. It really hurts a movie.

Coarse Language: If you ever been in the SOUTHERN UNITED STATES. It was always been known that White People always called Black People (not by their name), but as SLAVES during that time.

Some quotes in IMDb, thanks to its contributors. These two are not posted:

I reasoned that there was one or two things I had a right to. Liberty or death. If I couldn't have one, I'd have the other.
===
Harriet: Well, God showed me... to prepare me, I guess. But when it happened, it hurt so bad, worse than any beating, worse than the hole in my head. Hole in my head just... made God's voice more clear.
(Man wrote down silently: possible brain damage.)

As memorable are the title cards on screen:

===
