"Donald Trump is exactly the disaster we feared for America. Hated by a majority of Americans, Trump's administration is rocked by daily scandals, and he's embarrassed us at home and abroad. Trump can't win in 2020, right? Wrong. As 2016 proved, Trump can't win, but the Democrats can sure as hell lose. Only one thing can save Trump, and that's a Democratic candidate who runs the race Trump wants them to run instead of the campaign they must run to win in 2020. Wilson combines decades of national political experience and insight in his take-no-prisoners analysis, hammering Trump's destructive and dangerous first term in a case-by-case takedown of the worst president in history and describing the terrifying prospect of four more years of Trump. Like no one else can, Wilson blows the lid off Trump's 2020 Republican war machine, showing the exact strategies and tactics they'll use against the Democratic nominee . . . and how the Democrats can avoid the catastrophe waiting for them if they fall into Trump's trap. Running Against the Devil is sharply funny, brutally honest, and infused with his biting commentary. It's a vital indictment of Trump, a no-nonsense, no-holds-barred road map to saving America, and the guide to making Donald Trump a one-term president. The stakes are too high to do anything less"--

I've read Wilson's posts on Twitter via the Lincoln Project and thought the book would be interesting. The snarkiness of it was entertaining for the most part, but the repetition of the same things over and over got boring. He heads up each section with fake tweets that are pretty entertaining and to a point believable. The ones from the "fake" realDonaldTrump definitely show his character, or lack thereof.

His work to get Biden elected is welcome.

Rick Wilson does another excellent job of writing about a crime family that conned its way into the Whitehouse. History will remember Trump as mentally incompetent and the most evil person of his generation. Wilson offers sage advice on how to vote him out. What do you have to lose?

🗳 Cynical, hardnosed, and (therefore) correct primer on how to run a campaign against Donald Trump. Aimed at Democrats, by a Never-Trumper, it advocates making the election a referendum on Trump, jettisoning the safe states, getting an early start, hitting below the belt (you know the opponent will), and never letting up for a single damn minute. The level of invective is high, and highly amusing. The political analysis is partly invalidated by recent unforeseeable events, but a lot is still useful. His lips to the Almighty's ear, or at least Joe Biden's.

I have to admit I laughed throughout this book because of the author's no-holds-barred style and hate-me-but-I'm-right attitude. But this is a deadly serious book because this is a do-or-die election for our country. November 3, 2020 will be the day we find out if the experiment our founders started is going to work or not. The author believes our very democracy is at stake and with everything that's been going on for three and a half years (and especially for the last three and a half months), I agree. Current Occupant must go.
Get this book, a comfy chair and maybe a stiff drink and read it with a sober mind.

Thought-provoking, frightening, funny, hopeful, doubtful--all of these describe this book. I am most concerned about how professionals can provide information to voters and it is almost impossible to know if it is fake or real. we will all need to practice "trust but justify".

Surprises me people have not figured out that the Binary system of Republican and Democrat is a rigged game, doomed to repeat itself. If all you have to choose between is a Terd Sandwich or a Giant Douche, Nothing will change. Both parties are controlled by Lobbyists and Companies who push their own agendas through the Hollywood actors Guild we call politicians. *Sigh* Distraction tactics to keep us dumb'd down and unaware of the policies they will always continue to push.. eroding our literal rights. Until we realize the system is broken and start to back actual People outside these major institutions, not actors... The trajectory we are on will continue.

Although I don't share his political beliefs, I believe that Rick Wilson knows and understands what it will take to defeat DJT and save our country and our futures, and we need to listen and accept his advice. As Wilson says, DJT can't win the 2020 election, but we Democrats can sure as !#*! lose it if we don't get stronger and tougher. If you are a part of a campaign on any level, I highly recommend that you not just read, but also study, this book.

Foretells the consequences of Trump winning in 2020 and how this will put democracy in the US at grave risk. Makes the point that defeating Trump in the next election will mean overcoming chronic foreign influences (Russian ads on Facebook) in the election and nominating a solid centrist candidate, instead of running a Pollyanna campaign based on unicorns.

Author shows that Trump's victory in 2020 is likely unless the Democratic party learns how to campaign, and lists how it can improve. But this book about the mechanics of running an election campaign, which not a very interesting topic. I hope that someone in the Democratic campaign reads this book.
