Having read comments, I knew there was a twist - and I saw it coming, less than halfway through, though not exactly what it was - realized there were hints being dropped on the way through. Felt the author was dishonest in at least one spot. The story is compelling, but I don't get why it had to be told in "free verse" - really just prose forced into some semblance of poetry. It seemed pretentious and got wearying to read. Still - it was quick to read. Recommended only if the format weren't so off-putting and the subject matter so very, very dark, but an interesting glimpse into the far-reaching ramifications of child abuse. (Not a spoiler - abuse apparent from very early on.)
