When I read the first book, I thought the ending was the end. In my head - Edward turned her and they were living happily ever after. Which is probably why this book just frustrates me. You have to have a lot of patience with this book because it turns the strong-willed Bella in the first book into a simpering twit. And it fails at making you sympathize with her because you have to create a lot of the missing pieces yourself. If you're going to build a world filled with soulmates - you have to show both parts struggling - not just throw it in at the end. That's not how it works, that's not how world-building works. The ending of this book saved it for me - The Volturi were fascinating - and I honestly hope she grows as a writer and one day decided to write more about the world she created.
