There was a time in the 60s when Italy seemed to have a surplus of gorgeous leading ladies, dapper leading men, clever directors, and stylish cinematographers. Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastorianni were two of the biggest stars of the era and it makes sense they co-starred in a bunch of films together, of which this and "Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow" are the best known. It's an enjoyable, lightweight romp with some occasional serious notes about male/female relationships. Directed by neorealist pioneer Vittorio De Sica ("Bicycle Thieves") and produced by Loren's husband, Carlo Ponti. The title is a take off on another Mastroianni film, "Divorce Italian Style," which takes a darker, more cynical look at marriage and relationships and is worth seeking out.
